Student activism continues to be a force to be reckoned with. Key concerns and commitments remained student funding; equality, social justice, and antidiscrimination; political freedoms and democracy; and gender equality.

Colleges and universities in low-income nations have struggled to put in place quality distance education programs for a lack of experienced academics and adequate resources.

Continuing reflection on critical policy changes in Brazilian higher education since President Bolsonaro assumed office in January 2019, this article presents what we call “a chronology of tragedies,” a review of events that have taken place since September 2019.
